Multi-disciplinary artist, Amy Vidra, transforms every day materials into rich narratives that explore the complex and often contradictory commentary we are told from family of origin, media, society, or self-created dialogue. The combination and dichotomy of materials transforms these narratives through intuitive process and real time decisions, stitched, layered, or woven, often influenced by the here and now rhetoric. With this play on past and present, the dialogue takes on new meaning, connections and interplay, inviting the viewer to also engage, reflect and interweave their own experiences and dialogue.

Through focusing on minute details of stitching or the meditative role of weaving, Vidra’s work evokes a sense of calm, organized reflections, incorporating eco-every day materials into layered, transformed perceptions, quiet, powerful voices, and vessels of her perceptions of self and the spaces surrounding us.
